The Medical and Health Education Programme Team delivers the online international PGCert in Medical and Healtjh Education programme within the Department of Transnational Education.
The team fully embraced the concepts of flexible digital delivery and inclusive, trans-disciplinary competency as central components when creating a transnational programme to develop health care educators. They ensured the synthesis of key concepts and pedagogical approaches, resulting in the creation of highly accessible and inclusive teaching and learning materials. Recommended reading explicitly incorporates published literature from non-western nations, different cultures and backgrounds. This helps all participants appreciate the richness in educational approaches from different cultures and countries. Furthermore, careful design of interactive digital elements (including peer review activities) encourage a sharing of experience amongst students and staff, promoting cultural competence and diverse learning exchanges for all. The course supports the development of educators from 15 different countries across 5 different continents.
