Liz Sheader (School of Medical Sciences)

Dr Liz Sheader has lead the development and successful delivery of Teams Based Learning (TBL) into the first year of the MBChB programme, replacing Problem Based Learning. This has been a major development for the programme which ensures uniform delivery of our case based learning together with an innovative approach. Liz has also led on a number of other changes to teaching delivery including establishing student communities early in the programme that they will later move to the major teaching hospitals with, so this transition should be smoother and the students feel less lost in our large cohort. This should improve student experience and enhance their satisfaction. We have undertaken a thorough evaluation of TBL and this has been extremely positive. There has been much to overcome in the delivery of these large scale teaching innovations and Liz has always managed challenges with a calm and pragmatic, but determined manner. She is an exemplary educational leader.
