Our team is a multidisciplinary team comprising pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, therapy assistants, transfer of care nurses, social workers and doctors. We work on an Intermediate Care Unit in Rochdale Infirmary that promotes patient independence and re-enablement. For this teaching programme, we also collaborated with the alcohol liaison specialist nursing team sited within the hospital.
Our multidisciplinary team at Rochdale Infirmary worked together to coordinate a teaching programme for the University of Manchester Year 2 Medical Students in their Early Clinical Years. The team worked collaboratively to achieve the core aims of developing student knowledge of allied health professionals roles and responsibilities, and enhancing their understanding of how the multidisciplinary team work together to be able to provide holistic patient centred care. The programme encouraged not only active student learning, but also enabled allied health professionals to develop their skills in teaching and education within the clinical setting.
