The Manchester Matrix - The Purposes of a Manchester Undergraduate Education
As part of the University's Review of Undergraduate Teaching, Learning and the Student Experience, the Manchester Matrix was produced, which sets out the eight purposes of a Manchester Undergraduate Education, which are:
- To develop critical thinking and higher order conceptual reasoning and analytical skills
- To promote mastery of a discipline
- To broaden intellectual and cultural interests
- To prepare graduates for professional and vocational work
- To challenge and equip students to confront personal values and make ethical judgements
- To prepare graduates for citizenship and leadership
in diverse, global environments - To develop advanced skills of written and verbal communication
- To promote equality and diversity.
