- Guidelines for monitoring student attendance and engagement (November 2021)
These guidelines have been developed as part of the University’s commitment to provide a supported learning environment in which students are encouraged to develop knowledge, understanding and the range of skills and attributes expected of a Manchester Graduate. The guidelines aim to encourage active participation in all learning activities through regular attendance and engagement, and provide information for Schools on good practice in:
- A. Setting out attendance expectations for students
- B. Monitoring students’ engagement with their programme
- C. Recording student attendance/absence
- D. Reporting on and reviewing students’ engagement with their programme
- E. Acting upon continued unauthorised absence and non-engagement with the programme
The guidelines must be read together with Regulation XX: Monitoring Attendance, Engagement and Wellbeing of Students and the Policy on Recording and Monitoring Student Attendance and Engagement.
The guidelines also take into account the Student Attendance system (piloted in 2021 and rolled out in the 2021/22 academic year) as part of the engagement monitoring project.
