This page is for policies, procedures and guidance for the assessment of, and feedback for, taught students at the University. The consultation for these policies and procedures will take place in the 2028/29 academic year.
Assessment Framework
The University’s Assessment Framework is a set of policies, procedures and guidance documents that cover the entire assessment journey, including the principles, conduct, and outcome of assessments in taught programmes, as well as academic malpractice.
Feedback Policy
The Feedback Policy sets out the principles under which feedback should be planned and delivered and relates to both formative and summative work.The University of Manchester is committed to providing timely and appropriate feedback to students on their academic progress and achievement, enabling students to reflect on their progress and plan their academic and skills development effectively.
Policy on Religious Observance and Guidance for Students
This Policy on Religious Observance for Students outlines the University’s approach to accommodate student’s mandatory religious observance in assessments and compulsory activities. Efforts are made to avoid scheduling on significant religious days or festivals, as agreed with relevant faith chaplains. The policy only applies to observances known in advance and does not accommodate casual preferences or social reasons.
