Developing the skills to support students
There are learning opportunities, using online eLearning, or in group workshops, to help you feel more confident in supporting our students, whatever your role is at the University.
Online training
Short interactive modules with videos and activities which you can use either individually or with your colleagues. They may require you to log in with your university details (CAS) to access the pages, but no personal information will be tracked.
Techniques for effective first contact with students, including managing some distress, understanding boundaries, and being aware of resources, services and routes for referral.
Helping you to identify and respond to anxiety, depression and more serious mental health crises including psychosis and risk of self-harm or suicide.
Group training
There is also regular training run by the Counselling and Mental Health Services, more details can be found here.
