Continuous Improvement at Our University
Continuous Improvement (CI) is a core aspect of our University's culture, driving us to enhance efficiency, quality, and value in our daily practices. The Strategic Change Office (SCO) is dedicated to supporting these efforts across the University.
Key Principles of Continuous Improvement:
- Ongoing Process: CI involves making small, incremental changes rather than large-scale projects, focusing on gradual enhancements over time.
- Value to the Customer: We aim to maximise benefits for our end users by continuously seeking ways to improve our services.
- Removing Waste: By identifying and eliminating wasted time, resources, and efforts, we streamline processes to improve efficiency.
- Reducing Defects: We strive to minimise errors and defects, refining our methods to achieve better outcomes consistently.
How the SCO Can Support You:
- Community Support: Join our CI community on MS Teams for collaboration and shared learning. This platform allows you to connect with others, share experiences, and access additional resources.
- Tools and Templates: We provide a range of tools and templates based on Lean methodology and best practices from higher education and other sectors. These resources are designed to help you implement CI locally.
- Training Programmes: Our training offerings include introductory sessions for problem-solving and process improvements. We are planning a full training offer for the University as the service develops.
- Consultancy Services: Our consultancy services offer tailored support for CI workshops, coaching, and specialised training. Our professional facilitators and CI experts can work with your team to develop new processes and provide on-the-job training. For complex processes that span multiple areas of the University, our team is ready to provide the necessary expertise and support.
