About the SCO
The Strategic Change Office (SCO), part of the Directorate of Planning, supports University-wide change and the delivery of the Strategic Change Portfolio. We currently manage a wide range of projects and programmes that cover both academic and professional service activities.

Our approach
We deliver projects that improve effectiveness and efficiency, contribute to financial sustainability and release funding for strategic investment across the University. This approach is delivering a number of benefits:

Demand Management
Overview​
The Demand team is made up of Jamie Shepherd (Head of Demand) and 3 Demand Managers, who are all responsible for their own specific areas (Mike Shaul (Admin), Jac Dennington (TLS) and Caroline Hargreaves (Research). The team work with business stakeholders to understand initial demand requests and then work through the demand process.
The purpose of the demand process is to enable any member of University staff to raise an idea (a work request) into a central team, who can evaluate it, review it and confirm whether it is ‘demand’ or not. This then enables the various governance groups to prioritise it and progress it through the demand process to ultimately become a project in delivery. By having a structured process, the team can have a holistic view of competing priorities and where 'demand' may have similarities with ongoing programmes/projects that may already be investigating a similar piece of work.
