Non-ionising radiation
Guidance
Advice and information on the safe use of non-ionising radiation sources such as microwaves and ultraviolet light sources.
Chapter 26 of the University's Health and Safety arrangements defines personal and management responsibilities.
Training
Details of the UV safety awareness training course and links to useful, external websites are also provided. Further information can be obtained from the Non-ionising Radiation Technician katharine.sullivan@manchester.ac.uk 56982.
Sources
The four main types of non-ionising radiation in use at the University are ultraviolet light, microwaves, mobile phones and Wi-Fi, and electromagnetic fields. The risks and control measures for each of these are described in their own section, accessible through the links from this page. Any forms or other documents that may be required are linked to in each section, and may also be accessed from the Forms & Documents section of these pages.
