Develop your research impact – new training dates

Learn how to work with stakeholders more strategically and how to plan for, communicate and evidence your work’s results in the real world.

Do you want to know more about research impact? Would you like to work with stakeholders more strategically, or improve how you plan for, communicate and evidence the impact of your research?

The University’s research impact team has announced new dates for its popular training workshops, which cover all these topics and more.

Since launching in September 2023 over 300 staff have attended the training. Feedback showed that 99% of respondents learnt something new about impact and 97% would recommend the course to a colleague.

There are five training modules, which are relevant to all disciplines.  You can attend in any order, but we recommend you attend ‘Introduction to research impact’ first if you are new to impact.

The training is open to Early Career Researchers, mid and late-stage researchers. Professional Services colleagues are also welcome to attend if relevant to their roles but as capacity is limited, researchers will be prioritised in the first instance.

The modules are:

Introduction to research impact – what impact is (and isn’t) and key elements of impact planning and delivery (Tuesday, 15 October – 10am to 12pm).

Planning For Impact and Incorporating Impact Within Grant Applications – guidance and insights on how to build impact into a grant (Tuesday, 12 November – 10am to 2pm).

Communicating your research – with a wide variety of groups and audiences (Wednesday, 20 November – 10am to 12pm).

Working with external stakeholders to achieve research impact (Thursday, 7 November – 10am to 12pm).

Evidencing research impact (Friday 6 December – 10am to 12pm).
