What is RRI?

Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) came to prominence as a concept in Horizon 2020 and is an important concern for the UKRI. The UKRI definition of RRI aligns closely with the University of Manchester Purpose as set out in Our Vision.

For the UKRI, responsible research is “socially desirable and undertaken in the public interest”, aligning closely with the University of Manchester Purpose as set out in Our Vision. However, for the UKRI, RRI “includes, but goes beyond, considerations of risk and regulation, important though these are”.
