PS structure
In order for the University to achieve its strategic goals of world-class research, an outstanding learning and student experience, and social responsibility, our professional services must operate at a matching level.
Members of staff in the Professional Services (PS) lead and facilitate negotiations with partner organisations and key stakeholders, act as the strategic lead in many areas, and provide specialist advice and support across a wide range of services.
There are over 5,000 PS staff within the University who work in the central Directorates and all non-academic staff working in Faculties and Schools.
PS staff may be operating as accountants, maintenance engineers, careers advisers, People and Operational Development managers, IT specialists, administrators, clerical/secretarial support staff, technicians or manual support staff. All are professionals in their respective fields.

The PS is led by Patrick Hackett, who took up his role as Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer on 1 October 2018.
