Annual Performance Review

The Annual Performance Reviews (APRs) take place in November each year and assess the performance of the Faculties, Professional Services (PS), and the cultural institutions (Manchester Museum, the Whitworth and the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre). The focus of the meetings takes a strategic, forward-looking view, with more detailed discussions on data taking place separately.

The Faculty and PS APR meetings are chaired by the President and Vice-Chancellor, and the review panels comprise senior executive members of the University and Students' Union representatives. The cultural institutions are reviewed through Planning and Resources Committee.

The panel is provided with high-level information and data including:

  • accountability statement
  • SWOT analysis
  • research performance
  • teaching and learning performance
  • social responsibility performance
  • finance data
  • people and organisational development data
  • other PS-related data
  • University risk register

The purpose of the APRs is to review performance and progress in support of the University's strategic plan, as well as forward planning. Actions are identified to be followed up during the year. A complete evaluation of University performance in the previous year is presented to the Board of Governors’ accountability review in November.
