Leaving the University
If you leave service before retirement age, your pension scheme will send you a statement of your options once you have left. These can include:

A refund of contributions if you have not funded your membership via PensionChoice. Please see our FAQs |
A pension and lump sum payable from retirement age |
A transfer value to another pension arrangement |
A transfer value to another pension arrangement |
Under 2 years’ service – UMSS |
Over 2 years’ service - UMSS |
A refund of contributions or ex gratia payment |
A pension and lump sum payable from retirement age |
A transfer value to another pension arrangement |
A transfer value to another pension arrangement |
If you are a member of Pension Saver, you can receive a refund of your contributions if you opt out in the first month of membership. Your contributions will remain in your Pension Saver account on leaving the University until you decide to access them.
If you are age 55 or over, you may be able to apply to receive an early retirement pension.
