Enrolling you in a scheme
All employees have access to a pension scheme, either the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) or The University of Manchester Pension Saver (Pension Saver). Your appointment letter confirms which scheme we will enrol you into, normally on the first day of your employment.
If you have been a member of the NHS Pension Scheme in the 12 months before you join the University, and you are working in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health (Medical School), you may be able to continue your membership of this scheme. Please contact the Pensions Office in your first week for further information.
New employees are not permitted to join GMPF.
Auto-enrolment regulations mean that we must assess our workforce every 3 years, and enrol those who meet the auto-enrolment criteria into a pension scheme.
