International staff
We hope to answer some of the practical questions you may have before coming to the UK and to give you information about University facilities and services. Please take a look at our International Staff Handbook.
Where shops and services are mentioned, this is for information and illustrative purposes only and there is no implication that they are approved or recommended by the University.
Although every care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of information included, the University does not accept liability for errors or omissions.

International Staff Network Group
The International Staff Network Group was launched in September 2010 and is primarily aimed at overseas staff who are working at the University or postgraduates who are conducting a period of study or research in Manchester.
The group has regular informal meetings where pertinent issues are discussed.

If you have any queries please contact People Services. Details will be contained in your offer letter from the University.
Opening International Bank Accounts
The University of Manchester doesn’t provide advice about who you should bank with.
HSBC UK has previously supported University of Manchester staff with their banking needs when relocating to the UK. Tracy Johnson at HSBC UK is our dedicated UK account manager for staff members’ personal banking needs. You can contact Tracy via email at tracyjohnson@hsbc.com.
Depending on the countries you are travelling between, HSBC may also be able to help you open a bank account in your home and/or destination country, sometimes before you set off. This may also help you when making payments and transfers between countries. Further information can be found on HSBC’s website.
If you would like Tracy to provide you with further information about the HSBC international proposition, or to see if she can help you get your HSBC UK bank accounts set up before you travel, please email tracyjohnson@hsbc.com asking for ‘information about HSBC International Banking Services’ and include the countries you are moving from/to. Tracy will be able to discuss if and how HSBC can support your needs.
