IT access 

Key focus: Managing IT access

  • Research staff: Employees can request extended access to emails and e-resources for research staff after the expiry of research roles linked to finite funding. The extension can be for 12 months beyond leaving date and is allocated in blocks of six weeks. Researchers who resign before the expiry of their contract can still request extended access by obtaining approval from their Head of Department/School/Division and by requesting people.globalmobility@manchester.ac.uk for access. 
  • IT Account Application: If you require access for an agency worker, auditor, NHS employee, or for work experience purposes, please complete the following form to request access to IT facilities. IT Account Application Form (The University of Manchester). Please contact people.globalmobility@manchester.ac.uk for guidance and completion of the request. 
  • Visitor Access:  This type of access can permit remote and/or in-person access for individuals where the department/school are nominating the individual to carry out independent research or where there is ongoing collaboration or affiliation with the University.  To make the request, a member of UoM staff should complete the Visitor request form and send it to people.globalmobility@manchester.ac.uk along with the visitor’s passport, CV and signed visitor agreement at least 2 weeks ahead of the planned start date.  Further queries or guidance can be directed to the Global Mobility Team at email address above.
