Multi-faith Chaplaincy

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy team at the University welcomes people of all faiths and those with none. The team offers pastoral spiritual and religious care, and religious guidance to staff, students, and on occasion their families or guardians.

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy consists of an informal network of independent affiliated chaplaincies and chaplains. Each Chaplain operates within a shared set of principles that seeks to ensure all staff and students who access chaplaincy services receive the best possible care and support, irrespective of belief.

The Chaplaincy team works to the University’s values of sharing knowledge to ensure a greater understanding of the interweaving religions, faiths, commonalities as well as non-beliefs across our community. Providing wisdom and showing humanity by encompassing differences with respect and support.

Sr Alicia Pérez FCJ, Catholic Chaplain

Sr Alicia Pérez FCJ

I am part of the Catholic Chaplaincy team based around Holy Name church, across from the Student Union.

I am a Catholic religious sister from Spain and have lived and worked for long periods in the USA and Argentina, mostly teaching computer science, AI, and machine learning. Since 2017 I have been a chaplain.

I am delighted to interact with uni students and support their quest for God, their growth in faith, and their human and academic development. I feel that a very important part of my job is to make the Chaplaincy a welcome place for all.

Dr Omolade Femi-Ajao

I am a Lecturer in Global Health based within the Division of Medical Education, and over the last seven years, I have worked with many staff and students, but as a Coach and a Chaplain.

Although I am a Christian, I have supported many people from different religions/beliefs, and those who do not have any belief or religious affiliation.

Every Tuesday, there is an opportunity to meet with me, to discuss, pray, ask questions, a listening ear, or simply to speak with a friendly face on campus.
