Workplace nursery scheme

Workplace nursery scheme

What is a workplace nursery scheme?

Unlike childcare vouchers where the maximum you can sacrifice is £243 per month, with a Workplace Nursery Scheme you can opt to pay the full nursery costs directly from your gross income (this is your pay before tax and NI) instead of part of your salary. You only then pay tax and NI on your salary after the childcare vouchers/fees have been deducted – so you can save hundreds of pounds a year.

Our campus nurseries, Dryden Street Nursery and Echoes Day Nursery are designated as a Workplace Nursery under HMRC rules, so that it is possible for University staff with children with a place at either nursery to opt into a salary exchange (also known as salary sacrifice) Workplace Nursery Scheme.

It is important to register for a place as soon as possible. New staff are not guaranteed a place.

How to sign up for the Workplace Nursery Scheme

Visit our campus nurseries page  and register for a place.  Once you have secured a place and been given a start date please contact People Services asap to register for the scheme (you cannot apply retrospectively):
