Applying for a Secondment
Where secondments are advertised using the normal recruitment and selection process, then applicants should apply through the usual way.
In all cases, a written agreement should cover the duration of the secondment, its purpose and any relevant factors or terms. The secondment arrangements template can form part of this agreement and copies kept by those involved. This can be used to review through the secondment period and remind each other of expectations set.
Wherever possible, requests for secondments will be agreed but they are not guaranteed. As the benefits and implications of the placement are be considered it may be that a placement is not possible. In these cases, the reasons should be explained to the secondee, and explore with them how best any identified learning and development needs could be met through alternative methods.
