Advertising a Secondment

If managers have a specific project, or a fixed term vacancy, a secondment is a good option to consider.

Managers are encouraged to consider secondments as a way of fulfilling such requirements.

Successful candidates can be selected from our own pool of talent, while stretching and developing the individual through the setting of development objectives. Secondments also help to spread skills and expertise across the University.

When vacancies such as this arise the usual recruitment and selection process should take place; however all opportunities should be taken to indicate and record the secondment nature of the vacancy. This will help to highlight the developmental nature of the position and ensure that the move is reported appropriately.
