A look back at Wellbeing Week
17 Apr 2013
The biggest Wellbeing Week programme ever saw 1,938 University staff and students register for the free programme of wellbeing activities that took place over a two-week period in March.
Activities were split into four areas of Wellbeing - Be Active, Be Calm, Be Healthy and Be Safe - and ranged from posture workshops and relaxation sessions to MoT health checks, free massages and a five-a-side football tournament, plus many more. More than 2,378 places were taken up across 200 sessions, making it the most attended Wellbeing Week to date.

A few of the Wellbeing Week highlights included the Abseil down University Place which not only raised awareness about Health and Safety on campus but raised £410 for charities The Natalie Kate Moss Trust and Bolton Wanderers Community Trust. The Fastnet netball tournament which was held on Red Nose Day, raised £22 for Comic Relief.
The Wellbeing Week Biggest Loser competition achieved excellent results with an overall weight loss of 21.7kg across the seven people who took part in the 30 day challenge. The winner, and biggest loser, was Lisa Grady who won three free Be Active courses.
The free swim challenged staff and students to record their distance to see how far they could swim collectively. Staff who submitted their distance swam a total of 63km, with students racking up 230km.
Many enjoyed the Wellbeing Live event that was held at University Place across two days, at which free manicures, massages, skin tests and defibrillator training were available. The Health Olympics quiz was won by student Emily Antoniadi, who won an Apple Ipod shuffle.
The Wellbeing Week planning group would like to thank the 30 volunteers who provided vital support and resource during an extremely busy week.
