Urban Naturalist: Allotments
25 Mar 2013
Event for adults on Saturday, 30 March (2-4pm) in The Manchester Museum.
Come and explore the Museum’s allotment with its extraordinary 17th century watering can, ancient Egyptian farming tools and the many garden insects that call it home.
Learn about the history of allotments and how urban environments can provide rich surroundings for creating abundant garden plots. Discover ways of encouraging wildlife into your own allotment and find out why ‘pests’ can have a positive effect on your cultivations. Get involved, learn new skills and share your love with nature.
Urban Naturalist is a series of friendly, practical workshops run by leading naturalists. From wild food-foraging and composting to bird song and insect identification, explore biodiversity on our doorstep.
