Free entry to staff with ID cards
The Tabley House Collection, a hidden gem in the heart of Cheshire that includes paintings by Turner and fine furniture by Chippendale, is one of The University of Manchester’s cultural assets and has free entry for all staff with your staff card.
After a full Winter programme of cleaning and conservation, the Collection will open its doors to the public again at Easter.
The Collection is housed in the principal rooms of Tabley House, Knutsford, a splendid Grade 1 listed Palladian mansion by John Carr of York.
It contains paintings by Turner, Lawrence, Lely, Dobson and Northcote and was one of the first in England to celebrate British art. The house also contains fine furniture from Chippendale, Bullock and Gillow. The 17th Century chapel with Burne-Jones stained glass window adjoins the Tea Room for light refreshments.
The house welcomes coach parties and is located just two minutes from Junction 19 of the M6.
Opening times and prices
Open Thursday – Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays 2–5pm
Adult £5 Child/Student £1.50. Groups welcome. Free on production of University of Manchester staff card.
