End of fixed term contracts - "myth busting" session
14 Mar 2013
Karen Heaton, Director of Human Resources, will present a “myth busting” session on fixed term contracts on 21 March (1-2pm) in University Place, Room 4.206.
Over the past months the Research Staff Association has held a couple of very well attended meetings regarding what happens to staff at the end of their fixed term contracts. Specifically, these meetings dealt with the possibility of continued access to electronic resources (we are very pleased to say that a pilot ‘extended access scheme’ is now under way) and paid extension to notice. At each meeting a lively discussion followed the presentations. However, a number of the issues raised during these discussions were not able to be answered with any certainty.
We are therefore very pleased to announce that Karen Heaton, the Director of HR, has agreed to present a “myth busting” session regarding current University policy on some of the hottest topics of concern surrounding fixed term contracts and what to expect as you near the end of your contract.
- Date: Thursday, 21 March
- Time: 1-2pm
- Venue: University Place, Room 4.206
Although registration is optional, it would help us to know the approximate numbers. Also, if you have a question which you would like to put to Karen before the talk, there is space on the registration form. Personal details are optional if you would like to submit a question anonymously.

Hope to see you there!
