New and updated online research tools now launched
05 Feb 2013
A number of new or updated products for academic and research staff have been introduced as part of the Manchester Working Environment (MWE) programme to improve the staff online experience.
Each product (together with a ‘handy guide’) can be accessed via:
My Research
My Research provides easy access for investigators to data held on individual on University IT systems about their research activities. This release (available from 4 February) builds on the Project Finance module (which provides transaction information from Oracle Financials) by adding information from the University’s Research Management System (RMS) about research proposals and awards.
Equipment Booking
This product provides an online system for booking access to specified key facilities and equipment. The system makes it easier for users to view and book use of equipment and allows Facility Managers to manage equipment more efficiently and effectively.
In the first release, the system will include equipment in the Histology, Bio-imaging and Genomic Technologies facilities in the Faculty of Life Sciences. Booking will shortly be rolled out to Electron Optics in EPS and DNA Sequencing in MHS.
eProg
A number of enhancements to eProg - the University’s online progression system for postgraduate research students – have been released over recent months. The completion of this development process is now accompanied by a new ‘look and feel’ for the system, the main change being that the online booking functionality for skills training has been moved and will now form part of a University-wide system for all training provision.
