Manchester leads the way with its Extended Access Scheme for research staff
24 Jan 2013
The Research Staff Association and the University are launching a pilot scheme for prolonging access to email accounts and e-resources beyond the termination of research employment contracts – the first such scheme in the UK!
The scheme is designed to allow unemployed researchers to prepare for interviews, finalise manuscripts from their work, and more generally to maintain contact with the research and teaching community.
The pilot will include research staff with employment contracts linked to finite funding, leaving the University between mid-January 2013 and mid-May 2013.
More information about the scheme is available in:
- Incite (Research Staff SkillsTraining Newsletter): Issue 15 Winter 2013
and - Letters to research staff accompanying the HR letter they receive one month before the end of their contract
If you have any further questions about the scheme, RSA colleagues (Dr Isabelle Darmon, Dr Erin Baggaley, Dr Hosam Abdel aleem, Dr Necla Acik-Toprak, Dr Sarah King-Hele, Dr Samaneh Maysami, Dr Kassandra Papadopoulou and Dr Pamela Thompson) will be happy to answer them.
