Nominations to Senate
28 Jan 2013
Nominations invited from academic and research staff by Monday, 4 February.
Senate is responsible for monitoring standards in teaching and promoting research.
Those elected are also able to run for election to the University’s governing body, the Board of Governors, which is ultimately responsible for the University’s strategic direction and monitoring performance.
Professor Pamela Vallely, is now in her second term on Senate, and says: “I wanted to find out how the University worked and I do find it very interesting. Plus a lot of important issues come up at Senate; you are representing the views of academics and can influence matters; you are making a difference.
“Senate is a valuable forum to allow University staff to say if they disagree with or support a matter that will influence the life of the University; people do challenge proposals and changes get made. It is not intimidating at all and you can have your say.”
