You may install a single copy of the software on a personally-owned desktop or laptop (but not both) for work-related purposes.
The University has a Campus licence for certain Microsoft software including Windows and Office. As an additional benefit of this licence, University staff have a ‘work at home’ software option which allows you to install a single copy of the software on a personally-owned desktop or laptop (but not both) for work-related purposes.
Currently the following software is available:
- Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Upgrade 32bit/64bit
- Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010
- Windows 7 Professional Upgrade 32bit/64bit
- Microsoft Office Mac Standard 2011
- Visual Studio Professional 2010
- Project Professional
How can I install or upgrade this software at home?
Our University partner has set up an electronic shop from which you can download the installer or order a physical disk:
Once at the site, you will need to read and agree to the site terms and conditions and register an account. Please ensure that you use your University e-mail address when registering, however DO NOT use your University central services password (or any password that you currently use elsewhere) to register on this site.
There is a small cost for the software licence which you will need to pay using your credit card. Digital downloads cost £6.00 and physical disks are £9.00.
Please note that unfortunately non-information workers such as manual and craft staff are not eligible to use the work at home software, under our Campus licence. Please also remember that use of the work at home software is a benefit of your employment at the University of Manchester, therefore you must uninstall the software if you leave the organisation.
