Scientists turn buskers to reveal the secrets of the lab
29 Oct 2012
University researchers demonstrated the tricks of their trade to entertain young and old alike at the Science Spectacular, our part in the Manchester Science Festival.
Hundreds of people joined in the fun on Oxford Road, in which 11 of our researchers – having gone through an intensive day of training to learn the skills of science busking – demonstrated all sorts of science tricks to spellbound children and adults.
Inside the Whitworth Hall there were more sights to behold and fun to be had, including a rare glimpse of real meteorites, man-eating plants and “do it yourself” graphene.
If you missed out, you can still vote for your favourite image of University research in our other part in the Festival.
The 'Images of Research' competition shows how our scientists are making a difference to people's lives with a series of amazing photos that are up for a public vote. The voting closes on November 4 and the winners will be announced on November 7.
