New Welcome site launched

Dedicated micro-site offers new students an informative and social experience
Students joining The University of Manchester this September now have a dedicated Welcome site. The dynamic, interactive micro-site provides all of the key information they need to settle in, including ‘Must Do’ check lists and ‘Need to Know’ videos from current students.
Developed in response to feedback for current students, the Welcome site puts the emphasis on participation and interaction. Students can add their photo to the Class of 2012, and find others who are joining their course or living in the same halls. They can also link their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram social networks to the site.
As they create their profile, explore the site, and make their own contributions, students gradually ‘unlock their potential’, and are awarded points. Local businesses and organisations, including Blackwells bookshop and the NHS, are offering incentives and competition prizes.
The new Welcome site can be found at www.welcome.manchester.ac.uk, and is being promoted to new students through a number of social media and online channels. Staff are encouraged to explore the site and its features, and to promote it to students and colleagues.
