Proud to support Pride

23 Aug 2012

Show your support for the University's staff and students who will be walking in the Manchester Pride Parade on Saturday 25 August.

Manchester Pride Parade

120 members of staff and students, plus friends and family, will join representatives of other organisations as they weave their way through the streets of Manchester in a colourful and eye-catching display.

They'll be celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transexual life in general and this year's theme of 'Queer'd Science' in particular - embodied in Alan Turing, the pioneering mathematician who made many important advances and spent a significant portion of his career here.

Our entry will be easy to spot: the walkers will be carrying a huge Alan Turing tribute poster, University banners and placards, and members of staff wearing official University purple T-shirts will give out University Pride goodies.

The parade will leave Castlefield at 12.45pm and travel for one mile around the city centre via Deansgate, Cross Street and Princess street, ending on Whitworth Street near the Sackville Street Building.

Even if you couldn't take part in the walking entry, do come along on Saturday and show support by cheering on your colleagues and our students.
