The applications which have been successful in Stage 1 of the judging process are:

  • Social Responsiblity - ‘Living Worlds’ at The Manchester Museum

  • Courses - Sustainable Consumption Institute Centre for Doctoral Training (SCI CDT)

  • Student Initiatives and Campaigns - Your Halls Green Fund

Now in their eighth year, the Green Gown Awards recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the UK. They provide universities and colleges with benchmarks for excellence and are well respected by governments, funding councils, senior managers, academics and students alike.

Iain Patton, Chief Executive of the EAUC, which administers the awards, said “The quality of the applications has been very high and creating a shortlist was incredibly difficult. We are now looking forward to learning more about the successful projects in Stage 2 of the process, and ultimately to unveiling the winners of the 2012 Green Gown Awards in November”.
