New Health and Safety qualifications

The Staff Training and Development Unit (STDU) is running new Health and Safety courses in September.
They are:
IOSH Managing Safely (HS12) – Managing Safely is for managers and supervisors in any sector, and any organisation. It’s designed to get managers up to speed on the practical actions they need to take to handle health and safety in their teams.
Commences on 3 September and continues for four sessions on 10, 17 and 24 September.

NEBOSH General Certificate (HS66) - The course aims to:
- Equip delegates with the skills to be able to work more safely and develop safe working procedures in their working environment.
- Give delegates a basic understanding of the specific procedures used in assessing risks, developing control strategies and evaluating performance.
- Enhance delegates ability to communicate effectively on safety and health matters with those who work for them, those they report to and specialist health and safety practitioners.
- Provide the ability to investigate incidents and accidents and make appropriate reports.
- Make delegates aware of the legal responsibilities falling on employers and employees and the procedures for dealing with breaches of those responsibilities.
- Train delegates to apply sound management principles to safety and health issues as part of a total workplace strategy.
Commences on 18 September and continues for 12 weeks with a final examination at the end.
