Manchester International Beethoven Conference

Beethoven has been an iconic figure of Western culture since the early 19th century, and continues to be the focus of research across a wide range of academic disciplines. These include biographical/ contextual studies, textual/analytical studies and interpretative/performing issues. The aim of this three-day conference is to bring together scholars and graduate students in all fields of Beethoven research to explore new and recent developments. 

The conference will include a keynote address by Sieghard Brandenburg, research papers, a roundtable on 'Performing Beethoven', an all-Beethoven recital by the renowned pianist Julian Jacobson, and performances of chamber works by students at the Royal Northern College of Music.
