Charity blooms in University garden

The University’s garden at Broomcroft Hall will be open to the public as part of a charity event to raise money for St Ann’s Hospice the Alzheimer’s Society and the Didsbury Parsonage Trust.
The garden is one of more than 25 taking part in the Didsbury Open Garden event this Sunday (17 June).
The gardens will also play host to live jazz, lawn games, a willow sculpture demonstration by artist and garden designer Juliette Hamilton and a selection of mouth-watering cakes for sale.
“The event has raised over £25,000 to date and we hope to have another bumper event,” said organiser Maria Stripling. “The day will be a great family day out for a really worthwhile cause and additionally most of the gardens are within walking distance of each other making it a community event.”
The event starts at noon and finishes at 5.50pm. Programmes – each admitting one person – are on sale at The Cheese Hamlet, in Didsbury Village, and Inmans Newsagents, Lapwing Lane. Under 12s go free.
