We Face Forward is an extravaganza of contemporary art and music from West Africa happening all over Manchester.

It all starts this Bank Holiday weekend with the massive We Face Forward Family Weekender - three days of free fun at four fantastic venues. It includes art, music and dance workshops for families with children aged 0 - 11. Families can also see amazing new art from West Africa and hear West African musicians playing live.

And that's just for starters! There are free, fun We Face Forward family activities every day during the half term holidays.

Saturday 2 June (12 - 4pm), Manchester Art Gallery

Make noise, make art, make some moves! Enjoy brilliant art and live music from West Africa then have a go yourself. You don't need any special skill or knowledge to join in these art, dance and music workshops for all the family. Find out more...

Saturday 2 June (11am - 4pm), The Manchester Museum

Meet Anansi Spider, trickster hero of West African stories, brought to life in performance by the Men's Room Community Group and Royal Exchange Theatre. Make your own Anansi Spiders to take home and hear live West African music. Find out more... 

Sunday 3 June (12.30 - 3.30pm), Whitworth Art Gallery

Bring the whole family for an explosion of West African performances with lively music. Free creative workshops inside and outside the gallery lead by musicians, artists and students from Manchester Academy. Find out more...

Monday 4 June (12 - 4pm), Gallery of Costume, Platt Hall

Art workshop (no skill required!) and live music in one of Manchester's hidden gems, beautiful Platt Hall in leafy Platt Fields Park. Find out more...

Junk Palace at Manchester Art Gallery
Sunday 3 - Friday 8 June, 1 - 3pm

Hunt for recycled plastic treasure, play in the junk palace and make colourful plastic accessories to take home.
Inspired by the art of Pascal Marthine Tayou from Cameroon and live West African music.  

Artist Skills at Whitworth Art Gallery
Tuesday 5 - Friday 8 June, 1 - 3pm

Build layers of collage and screen printing inspired by live African music.

Living Worlds & Manchester Anansi Spider at The Manchester Museum
Monday 4 - Friday 8 June, 11am - 4pm

Make sock pets and Anansi Spiders and hear Anansi Spider stories.
