Fairtrade Fortnight: take a small step to make a big difference!

Fairtrade events and offers from Monday 27 February to Sunday 11 March 2012
The aim of this Fairtrade Fortnight is to encourage people to choose Fairtrade products and highlight the impact buying Fairtrade has on growers and producers.
Choosing Fairtrade means the farmers and workers have a better chance to work their way out of poverty as they receive fairer wages and a little extra, called the Fairtrade Premium, to invest in projects to improve life for the whole community.
This year’s theme is ‘Take a Step in 2012’ and the Fairtrade Foundation is encouraging 1.5 million steps towards a positive change on unfair trade. That’s one for every Fairtrade producer Fairtrade aims to work with around the world. Each step will lead to a better deal that millions of farmers and workers in developing countries urgently need.

The University of Manchester is proud to be a Fairtrade University and is committed to selling Fairtrade products across campus. These include:
- Hoodies, T-shirts and sweatshirts
- Tea, coffee, fruit juices and sugar sachets
- Bananas
- Muffins, flapjacks, cookies, cakes and chocolate bars
On Friday 2 March, FoodOnCampus and The Manchester Museum will be holding a Fairtrade market from 10am to 2pm. Please visit us in both University Place and The Manchester Museum where there will be:

- Pancake stall
- Sampling of Fairtrade goodies
- Chocolate Fountain

- 10% off featured Fairtrade products in the museum shop
FoodOnCampus will also have a number of Fairtrade special offers over the fortnight. These include:
