Host international students over the Christmas break

16 Dec 2011

Could you host students for an afternoon or evening?

While most of the University shuts down and goes home for the Christmas holiday, many international students remain here over the break, unable to return home to see their families. The experience can be isolating and lonely, but it doesn’t need to be. The International Society provides a Hospitality Scheme throughout the year for these students to be linked to hosts in Manchester in order to visit a British home, and learn more about life and culture here. In turn, they will share their own culture and experiences of life from many different parts of the world.

Could you host students for an afternoon or evening over the Christmas break?

Previous hosts have invited students to join them at mealtimes, a family trip to The Manchester Museum, a visit to the theatre, days out to Tatton Park, or an evening of live music – practically anything and everything that people are doing with their families that students can join in with. Most hosts welcome more than one student – being invited on your own can be a bit daunting! The scheme runs all year round, and the International Society runs Host socials three times a year.
