Understanding the tipping point of urban conflict in the global south

Global Urban Research Centre presents a panel discussion and Q&A session, followed by drinks reception, on Wednesday 16 November 2011 (4pm).

Urban violence is a fact of life in many cities around the world. The Urban Tipping Point project has conducted comparative research on the cause and consequences of violence in four cities in the Global South (Dili, Nairobi, Patna and Santiago) during the past year - a year that has also seen widespread urban violence erupt in Britain's cities. The emerging insights of the research potentially present important lessons for post-riot Britain, and can inform current analyses and policy debates in innovative ways.

This event brings together project researchers who will present key findings, with a media representative, an academic and a policy-maker invited to reflect on the lessons to be learnt for contemporary Britain.
