The Dynamics of Disease - A Workshop in Systems Biology
11 Nov 2011
From 28 November to 2 December 2011 in Barnes Wallis Buildling, The University of Manchester.
Organiser: Dr Gerold Baier, The University of Manchester
The next Workshop in Medical Systems Biology at The University of Manchester will run from Monday 28 November to Friday 2 December 2011 in the Barnes Wallis Building at The University of Manchester.
Day 1 of the Workshop contains introductory talks on the important subject of Medical Systems Biology. This is followed by three “Talk & Training” days for professionals from the drug industry, the medical profession and academia. The Workshop concludes on day 5 with presentations and a debate on generic Systems Approaches to Health and Disease.
The core of the course will highlight the relevance of Medical Systems Biology to endocrinology, neurology, dermatology and cancer modelling. Morning sessions will consist of talks and structured discussions by expert researchers from both industry and academia. The afternoons will feature a series of modelling seminars and tutorials describing the practical application of quantitative, predictive computational modelling.
Research students will greatly benefit from attending all five days. Further information and registration details can be found on the web link:
There will be a public event in the evening of Tuesday 29 November. Professor JoAnn Kuchera-Morin of the University of California at Santa Barbara will introduce and demonstrate in 3D “The AlloSphere” – an audio-visual environment for the display of complex biomedical data.
