Celebrate Black History Month!
10 Oct 2011
Activities and events are taking place throughout October to celebrate Black History Month!
Black History Month takes place every year in October. It is a time to celebrate black heritage and culture and in turn raise awareness about support and resources available at the University.
One such resource is the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre based in Sackville Street Building. The centre is a library dedicated to improving race relations and collects books, newspapers and videos specific to the BME community.
Here's just a sample of what you can do durng Black History Month:
- Take a guided tour of Manchester's Black Heritage
- Find out about the African Roots of the salsa dance and practise some moves
- Understand the barriers many black actors/producers still face in the film industry

Many events require pre-registration, so don't miss out.
