Public engagement opportunity at The Manchester Museum
03 Aug 2011
Academics required to participate in A-Level Study Day in November
The Manchester Museum is looking for academics to contribute to its new A-Level Study Day, part of its Engage with the Experts series, which looks at issues surrounding sustainability to link in with its Living Worlds gallery.
The premise of the Study Day is to provide students with the tools to enable them to present, at the end of the day, an innovative idea to promote sustainability issues in a Dragons' Den type pitch. This can be approached through various means, including:
- Advertising
- Campaigns
- Inventions
- Business interventions
- Educational programming
- etc ...
The Museum hopes to trial the first Study Day at the beginning of November; after that, they will be run periodically during term-time.
University academics can contribute to the Study Day by delivering a 20 minute informative and motivational talk, covering one of the following broad dimensions of sustainability:
- Social
- Environmental
- Economic
The talk should give an overview of the issues and challenges, what has been done so far and developments in the future.
If your research connects to one of these issues and you would like to be involved in this public engagement opportunity, please get in touch with:
