The carnival parade takes place on Saturday 13 August, leaving Alexandra Park at 12.30pm when the procession winds its way through the streets with dance troupes in colourful costumes, as well as steel bands, floats and DJs.
On both days Alexandra Park will be alive with activities celebrating music, dance, theatre and the Caribbean heritage. The main stage will feature calypso, soca and reggae music with a variety of acts on both days.
There will be something for everyone, with a fantastic array of stalls offering delicious Caribbean and other foods, clothes, arts and crafts, music tents, a fairground and more.

Project ‘81

Two days of FREE events to commemorate and explore the legacy of the Moss Side riots as part of the Caribbean Carnival.
Project ’81 takes place on 13 and 14 August and includes music, film, debates, poetry, art and more. Neville Staple of The Specials will provide the music to take you back to 1981 as we explore what really happened at the Moss Side riots of that year.
New documentaries include previously unseen archive material, personal recollections and reflections of the impact of the riots on today’s community, resulting in a unique resource for future generations.

Platform 4 Festival

Piccadilly Gardens, St Ann’s Square in daytime, Castlefield Arena at night
Platform 4 is a FREE festival of outdoor events, featuring two amazing nights of spectacular aerial and circus shows in Castlefield Arena, and two fabulous days of music, dance and street theatre in the city centre.
The night-time programme features the aerial skills and acrobatics of the sensational Atempo Circus from Spain, followed by a stunning finale from Wired Aerial Theatre called As The World Tipped – a jaw-dropping spectacle that sees the entire stage lift up into the night sky against a stunning film backdrop. Bar and barbecue on site. Get there early for the best seats.

Manchester Pride Parade

A carnival atmosphere will fill the streets of Manchester and is set to enthral the thousands of spectators =-young and old, gay and straight, friends and family - who come down to see the glamorous and the outrageously fabulous people who take part!
This year the parade starts at 1pm on Saturday 27 August and will celebrate all things Blighty with a 'Best of British' theme.
The parade runs from the top of Deansgate near MOSI down through St Ann's Square, past Albert Square and finally ending at the Gay Village.
