Green Gown Awards 2011: Awarding Sustainability Excellence

Submit your ideas for applications to the University's Environmental Sustainability Team by 13 June
Entries for the 2011 Green Gown Awards are now open. Now in their seventh year and administered by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), the Awards recognise the exceptional initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the UK to become more sustainable. Since their inception in 2004, the Green Gown Awards have grown year-on-year and this trend is expected to continue in 2011.
The University of Manchester has previously won or been shortlisted for the following Green Gown Awards:
- 2010: shortlisted for Carbon Reduction and for Courses
- 2009: shortlisted for Sustainable Construction and Refurbishment
- 2007/08: won Residences and highly commended for Courses
The categories for 2011 are:
- Carbon Reduction
- Colleges & Smaller Institutions
- Continuous Improvement – Institutional Change
- Course
- Green ICT
- Promoting Positive Behaviour
- Research and Development
- Skills
- Social Responsibility
- Space Efficiency
- Student Initiatives and Campaigns

The Environmental Sustainability Team will co-ordinate all entries from the University. You should therefore submit your ideas for applications by Monday 13 June 2011 to:
