Appointment of next Registrar and Secretary

Mr Will Spinks will formally take up his role on 1 August 2011 following the retirement of Mr Albert McMenemy
Mr Will Spinks has been appointed as the next Registrar and Secretary of The University of Manchester.
He has considerable experience of leading large professional service teams in complex organisations and he will formally take up his role as Registrar and Secretary on 1 August 2011 following the retirement of Mr Albert McMenemy. He will, however, join The University of Manchester on 1 June 2011 prior to taking up his new role.
Will Spinks has been Chief Operating Officer at Loughborough University for the past three and half years. Prior to joining Loughborough University, he held a number or senior appointments at ICI, Zeneca and AstraZeneca, including Site General Manager for AZ at Alderley Park in Cheshire between 2001 and 2003, following which he was appointed Vice-President and Head of UK Business Services for AZ.
Commenting on the appointment, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell said: “I am thrilled that Will Spinks will be joining us as our next Registrar and Secretary. Will has enormous experience and a track record of success in organisation and change management in the commercial and higher education sectors. I know that his experience at Loughborough has given him a real passion for universities. I am very pleased that he has agreed to join our team here at Manchester.”
