Unwanted clothes in your wardrobe?
09 Feb 2011
Donate them to the Stitch and Share Team recycling project during February
As students at The University of Manchester, we see first-hand the waste generated by students, including items of clothing and accessories that could easily be re-used and re-cycled by others.
In a joint effort with the Manchester Settlement, we aim to empower young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to adapt and refashion these items for re-sale, offering them a way into the creative industries whilst generating money to sustain the enterprise and reducing the quantities of waste going into landfills.
For these reasons, we are asking staff and students to donate any unused or unwanted clothing still in good or acceptable condition. We shall be collecting them in Biko's Cafe, upstairs at the Students' Union, Oxford Road, on the following dates/times:
- Tuesday 15 February, 12 to 3pm
- Wednesday 16 February, 12 to 3pm
- Thursday 17 February, 12 to 3pm
- Tuesday 22 February, 12 to 3pm
- Wednesday 23 February, 12 to 3pm
- Thursday 24 February, 12 to 3pm
