Will Writing Seminar - free to University staff

At the beginning of a new year, we often say we will tackle those jobs that we have not got round to from the previous year. One of the things many of us never seem to get around to doing is writing our Will. It is estimated that 60% of us never write a Will, perhaps viewing it as being complicated or expensive, or even someone else’s problem as we won’t be here! – but ensuring our affairs are in order can give peace of mind to you and your family or dependents.
To dispel some of the myths surrounding Wills and to provide some useful advice, we have arranged a Will Writing Seminar and are delighted to be able to offer this free of charge to our staff. The seminar will be provided by Irwin Mitchell – a top 20 UK law firm, established nearly 100 years ago and who are specialists in this area of the law. The seminar will focus generally on writing a Will, asset protection, inheritance tax, common misconceptions and what really happens if you don’t make a Will. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions. You will not be asked to consider The University of Manchester in your Will – but if that is something you are thinking about then we would be happy to discuss that with you in confidence.

Refreshments will be provided and an optional tour of John Rylands Library Deansgate is available, giving some history of the building, the collections and the exhibitions on display. Your spouse, partner, or guest would also be welcome to attend.
