2011 Distinguished Achievement Awards
24 Nov 2010
Nominations invited by Friday 11 February 2011
The 2011 round of the Distinguished Achievement Awards has just opened.
As in previous years, Faculties will be co-ordinating nominations in the following categories:
1. Teacher of the Year
2. Researcher of the Year
3. Undergraduate Student of the Year
4. Postgraduate Research Student of the Year
Faculties and all individual members of staff are also invited to nominate colleagues for a:
5. Professional Support Services (PSS) and Academic Services Distinguished Achievement Award
The PSS awards, now re-named the PSS and Academic Services Awards, were successfully introduced last year and it has been decided that this year two team awards should be made available, as well as three individual awards.
If you would like to nominate an individual or a team for PSS and Academic Service Award, please refer to:
- Guidance on the PSS and Academic Services Awards (PDF, 64.51KB)
All staff are also able to nominate in the:
6. General category of the Distinguished Achievement Awards
The General category is to be used only when the other category of awards (1-5 above and the University Social Responsibility Awards referred to below) are not appropriate. In such cases, a member or staff or a student can be nominated.
The General category is designed to recognised sustained and/or exceptional service to the University which is over and above what it normally expected of someone as part of their job, role or course. Retiring staff members of retiring lay members of the Board of Governors might be examples.

The final category of the Distinguished Achievement Awards is the:
7. University Social Responsibility Awards
These awards, which were introduced last year, recognise outstanding voluntary and/or community service among both our staff and students.
The call for nominations for the University Social Responsibility Awards will be made shortly.
